Passion, émotion, et correction d’équations

Seeing the beauty of the world through the internet is sort of like experiencing a different language without understanding it at all. You see it in front of you. The allure and presence. But you can’t touch it. You really can’t communicate with it. Like a blog in another language, you only see the outward appearance; the music, the images, the videos. But you don’t understand the words. There’s something that seems to be missing that’s specific and necessary.

The same goes for many of the awesome remixes of Yelle that I have heard since I got into this new type of electronic music. It’s sexy and captivating. You can’t take your ears off it and you’re always looking for the next fix. Just like beauty in the real world, it ultimately seems to be an empty experience when you just look for outward appearances only. Add your blood. Add your sweat. That’s what great remixes do. They take that reality and warp it to another place, like the great interpretations of classical works by the likes of the great soloists like Horowitz or Heifetz. Except these new artists are more like painters, crafting their work by juxtaposing the colors of the synthetic palette they have in their laptops.

Recently I heard an awesome remix of Yelle by the upcoming producer Fisk through GRUM’s NLLR mix. It’s a great banger hands down worthy of being played alongside the likes of Designer Drugs or MSTRKRFT. He also does something that I love, he actually uses the complete vocal line, more or less, throughout his remix. That’s the hallmark of the best new electronica I’ve heard, a new found appreciation for the human voice and that sense of vocal melody. Like that pretty girl you’ve never met, Fisk fit’s the bill, a shot of sex in your ears when the images of things just don’t sustain you like they used to.
